5 Cheap Storage Solutions for Kids' Rooms

by Kathy Wilson

Storage in kids' rooms is one of the biggest dilemmas for those decorating their homes on a budget. Here are some really cheap and easy solutions to keeping the messiest cookie monster under control!

  1. Sturdy cardboard boxes can be covered with contact paper or fabric to slide under the bed or stack in the corner.
  2. Empty baby wipe containers are perfect for corralling all those little toy pieces, such as the Barbie shoes and the fast food toys.
  3. Sew up some easy drawstring bags from scrap fabric and hang on the end of the bedpost or from a hook in the closet. Use them to store extra shoes, Barbie collections or all the army men.
  4. Storage cubes from the discount store can be stacked along a wall or in the closet, and each cube labeled for its contents to help your little ones remember what goes where. They come in bright colors, and can be added to as the collections grow.
  5. Use netting to create hammocks from the ceiling for all those stuffed animals. It keeps them out of the way, yet easily retrievable in the case a little one just has to have the purple bear with the blue bow!

Organizing your child's room will go a long way towards creating a comfortable place for them to call home. And it doesn't have to be expensive!
