When you don't have a 2 ½" continental rod and your valance has a 2 ½" pocket, make do with a regular rod for sheers. These are less expensive. Make the rod appear to be 2 ½" by cutting a strip of cardboard 2 ½" wide that runs the length of the rod. Thread it through the valance, in front of the rod. You'll be amazed at the look, you won't be able to tell you scrimped.
